Today I will get visit for afternoon tea, and I thought a simple made spicy cake would do with coffee. It’s easy to make, and it can bake in the oven while dinner is cooking. I don’t use any frosting on it since it’s quite moist as is – delicious! Enjoy!
This is a recipe I got from my sister over 20 years ago and it’s still being made now and then.
100 gr butter
200 gr sugar
165 gr plain flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. grounded cloves
3 tsp. c grounded cinnamon
1 1/2 dl cream
Melt butter and cool down a little.
Whip eggs and sugar into a light and airy mix.
Mix all dry ingredients and sift into egg/sugar and stir gently (with spatula), add cream and butter and stir gently until even batter.
Bake in a greased tin (about 1,5 liter), you can use baking foil in the bottom to easily remove the cake after baking.
Put in pre-heated oven to 175 °C for about 45 min. Just make sure you don’t overcook, because then it will be try and not so nice.
